Essential Job Functions

  • Develop senior executive relationships and act as a trusted advisor to supported areas of the business.

  • Own, develop, manage and execute programs for all assigned indirect procurement categories. Prepare strategic plans and manage the planning of RFIs and RFPs as contracts expire. Competitively bid and negotiate purchase requests to reduce overall acquisition costs. Prepare contracts in accordance with the approved policies and procedures, ensuring that such commitments are within budget.

  • Manage the vendor selection and negotiation process to ensure the needs of the company are being met. Establish and maintain contractual and business relationships with vendors. Monitor contract compliance and adjust strategies based on changing business needs. Ensure strategies are implemented and cost reduction is realized.

  • Work collaboratively with internal clients and suppliers to quantify requirements, timing and scope to fully manage supply chains in assigned categories. Create secondary supply strategies for critical products and services and lead identification and development of long term alternate sources.

  • Evaluate suppliers based on qualitative and quantitative data gathered regarding performance, quality, competitive pricing and service level metrics and review this data with the suppliers, establishing goals. Perform fact-based analysis to allow for objective decision making, including total cost of ownership (TCO) opportunities.

  • Maintain visibility into business partners' needs. Lead, guide and manage internal clients with regard to details on specifications, service level agreements (SLAs,) Statement of Work (SOW,) deliveries and costs. Challenge business partners to consider additional cost effective strategies.

  • Lead the competitive bid process, negotiation strategy development and conduct negotiations with suppliers. Negotiate contract terms for master agreements, schedules and amendments in conjunction with legal and business partners.

  • Oversee the supplier qualification process. Develop an understanding of future business objectives in order to design and implement consistent and efficient processes and systems for the acquisition of professional services.

  • This position may have day and night domestic and international travel.

  • Establish savings and process re-engineering goals and drive implementation.

  • Prepare financial analysis for assigned commodities and for special projects and develop cost reduction plans which include scope, timing and responsible parties by task.

  • Manage value-engineering changes with supplier, communicating timelines and obsolescence costs to business partners to facilitate decision making.

  • Investigate, analyze, and forecast developments in the industries of assigned categories of materials as to market conditions, price trends, new products, production methods and processes. Build expertise on the commodities assigned and the operations of the suppliers.

  • In collaboration with colleagues, analyze competitive bids, identify and select vendors in connection with the proposed goods and services.

  • Prepare or direct the preparation of documents in connection with the acquisition of goods and services

  • Proactively identify operational process issues and make recommendations for improvement, based on industry expertise.

  • Assist impacted departments with customer relations and management of customer issues related to acquired goods and services.

  • Perform related duties, tasks and responsibilities as required, assigned or directed.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Normally requires a Bachelor's Degree preferably in Business, Supply Chain, or Procurement. Master's Degree preferred.

  • Requires 7 to 10 years progressively responsible procurement and supplier management experience and a demonstrated track record in successfully developing, negotiating and managing multimillion dollar, complex contracts.

  • Advanced experience developing moderately complex cost and financial models with financial accounting is a must.

  • Requires strong drive for continuous process and productivity improvement with experience in six sigma and lean initiatives.

  • Requires advanced negotiation skills and ability to develop successful relationships with internal and external customers.

  • Requires excellent communications skills with the proven ability to lead, influence and motivate others.

  • Very strong and well developed experience sourcing goods and services is a must.

  • An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be substituted for a degree.

  • Must be able to demonstrate an advanced understanding of legal concepts and principles as they relate to: Confidentiality, Service, Investigator and Consulting agreements

  • Professional services sourcing experience is strongly preferred.
