Job Description

Torch Technologies is seeking an Aerodynamic and Structural Design subject matter expert to provide resources with knowledge and experience in identifying, analyzing, and evaluating aerodynamic structural characteristics. performance of armament systems resulting from transportation, handling, storage, and operational use at Eglin AFB, FL. The selected candidate shall have specialized experience with wind tunnel testing, evaluation, computational fluid dynamics, and M&S as it relates to aerodynamics, weapon systems, and associated structures.

The U.S. Air Force is developing a new LRSO nuclear missile. The service plans to field the LRSO by 2030 to replace the current, General Dynamics (now Raytheon) AGM-129A Advanced Cruise Missile (ACM) that originally entered service in 1991. In May 2021, the Air Force awarded an Engineering and Manufacturing Design (EMD) contract to Raytheon Missiles and Defense, Tucson, Arizona. The Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC) Nuclear Weapons Acquisition Division (AFNWC/NDB), which is resident at Eglin AFB, Florida, is the System Program Office (SPO) responsible for the acquisition.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Analyzes highly complex aerospace product or equipment specifications.
  • Evaluates new technologies for application in improving design of highly complex aerospace systems.
  • Plans, coordinates, directs, and evaluates testing of highly complex aerospace systems.
  • Performs risk assessment of those systems and generates risk mitigation plans and strategies.
Job Requirements
  • Must have Bachelor's degree in Aerospace or Mechanical engineering,
  • Must have at least 20 or more years in related aerospace engineering experience.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must have an active SECRET DoD security clearance. Must maintain clearance at required level.
  • Must be eligible for a Top Secret clearance.
  • Must be familiar with DoD Acquisition processes or project management professional principles.
  • Must have advanced programs experience.
