Loan Processor-Rental

(This is a primarily office-linked role in our downtown Cleveland office).

The goal of the Loan Processor- Rental is to ensure we have an accurate closing date, a great external borrower experience, and a strong internal experience for all stakeholders.

What You'll Do

As a Loan Processor- Rental, you are the key facilitator amongst all internal and external stakeholders to ensure a smooth closing experience. You gather and conduct a high-level review of the documents needed to close before passing them on for review.

You're motivated to bring a successful outcome to every closing and take ownership of the outcome. The Loan Processor- Rental is the focal point between the client, our internal team, and the third parties involved in the closing. You'll provide an exceptional borrower experience by...

  • Managing change across the loan closing process impacting structure or closing eligibility.

  • Engaging clients to bring value through proactive management of potential roadblocks.

  • Navigating changes and competing priorities to bring quality resolution to unpredicted issues.

  • Owning communication to borrowers and internal stakeholders. All the while, ensuring positive experiences both internally and externally.

  • Identifying and remediating any gaps or communication issues within the closing process.

  • Accurately forecasting and achieving closing dates.

  • Gathering and conducting an initial review of needed documents to pass along to underwriting.

  • Communicating with title companies, insurance, and counsels to drive the closing process.

  • Ordering and managing appraisals and pre-close inspections.

  • Adhering to internal processes and procedures, recommend improvements.

  • Proactively managing any complications by clearly communicating with all relevant parties.

  • Managing title work process for sign-off by the legal team.

  • Supporting the post-close team on any trailing items.

  • Verify completeness and accuracy of loan application documents.

  • Monitor and adapt to changes impacting loan structure or closing eligibility.

  • Leverage understanding of conventional and FHA loan structures to explain the nuances of Rental loans to borrowers.

  • Navigate challenging conversations with borrowers or external parties regarding issues or unexpected situations.

  • Proactively identify and address any potential roadblocks.

  • Apply knowledge of conventional and FHA loan closing procedures to rental loan closings.

  • Contribute to the efficient operation of the closing department.

Your First 30 Days in the Role

Your training will begin with some Upright basics (who are we, what do we do, where does the Loan Processor- Rental role sit relative to the organization?) This is delivered in a combination of learning, shadowing closing specialists, and joining meetings with other parts of the business.

By 30 days, the experience you bring with you to Upright added to the training we will provide will have you up and running in your role.

Required Skills, Behaviors, & Experiences

  • 2 years of experience with closing Conventional Mortgages.

  • Proficiency in closing conventional loans and FHA purchase loans.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Detail-oriented, analytical, and organized.

  • Ability to think critically and manage diverse clients.

  • Demonstrated patience and persistence.

  • Problem-solving mindset.

  • Technology proficient and adopter of change.

Skills & Experiences

  • Bachelor's degree in business preferred.

  • Technical proficiency, with knowledge of the following tools (used frequently in the role) preferred, but not required:

    • Microsoft Office Applications

    • Adobe Acrobat

    • Google Workspace

    • Slack

  • Preferred candidates are in the Cleveland, Ohio area or can commute to our Cleveland office.
