Our search and transition practice specializes in finding and supporting the best nonprofit executives. We not only identify an extraordinary pool of candidates with the right skills and experience, but also take into consideration each client's organizational priorities and culture to ensure the selected executive succeeds.

Marcum is currently seeking a strategic minded, detail oriented, and customer service focused Non-Profit Executive Search Associate to join the team through full cycle of recruiting at the CEO/Executive Director level and C-Suite level (e.g., Chief Operating Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Development Officer).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Understand Mission & Leadership Needs:

  • Confer with lead consultants and clients to understand the client's mission and leadership needs, job specifications, qualifications, skills, personal attributes, and compensation levels.

Source and Screen Candidates:

  • Establish key search criteria in discussion with lead consultant

  • Develop & implement research, outreach, and recruiting plans: researching and contacting professional networks, associations, etc.

  • Proactively build a pipeline of potential candidates for senior leadership positions (particularly nonprofit CEO positions) and maintain regular communication with those individuals; build and maintain contact with potential applicants on an ongoing basis.

  • Conduct initial and in-depth screening calls (telephone, video conference, and/or in person) with selected candidates

References:

  • Confer with lead consultant to understand criteria for reference checking

  • Complete and document reference checks that build the client's understanding of finalists

Communication & Customer Service:

  • Superior written products (position announcement, candidates screening notes, candidate summary, references summary, etc.)

  • Respond to candidates via telephone and e-mail within a reasonable period.

  • Build relationships with team members that foster trust, respect, and seamless team integration.

  • Provide the highest level of customer service to clients, STP team members, and Marcum colleagues.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred

  • 3+ years of sourcing and recruiting experience

  • Experience working in/with nonprofit organizations is strongly preferred

  • Proficient in the use of an Applicant Tracking System (ATS)/CRM and Microsoft Office Suite

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication

  • Able to build a rapport with experienced, highly accomplished candidates

  • Ability to define problems, gather data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

  • Ability to listen effectively and to gain the trust and confidence of clients, management, and applicants

  • Ability to work well in ambiguous situations

  • Personal qualities of integrity, confidence, commitment to personal leadership development

  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
