Apply Job Type Full-time Description OverviewTanaq Government Services (TGS) delivers professional, scientific, and technical services and information technology (IT) solutions to federal agencies in the health, technology, and other government services. TGS is a subsidiary of the St. George Tanaq Corporation, an Alaskan Native Corporation (ANC) committed to serving Federal customers while also giving back to the Tanaq native community and shareholders.About the RoleWe are seeking a full-time Utility Person to perform services at the Orville and Wilbur Wright Federal Buildings. The Utility Person will maintain assigned buildings and grounds, including office space, classrooms, dining halls, exterior paved and grass areas including planters, etc., and ensure they're always clean and orderly.This is a fully onsite position that will report to the Orville and Wilbur Wright Federal Buildings in Washington, D.C.ResponsibilitiesSet up and prepare rooms for special events and needs.Report needed repair work to proper authorities.Perform minor repairs to building fixtures and equipment.Wax and refinish floors and shampoo carpets.Pick up paper and other debris from grounds and buildings.May be required to perform miscellaneous maintenance work such as touch up painting, replacing light bulbs, and changing out damaged dispensers.Assure security of buildings and grounds during assigned times.Mow, edge, and blow lawn areas as needed.Move and/or re-arrange furniture, chairs, desks, tables, etc.Perform general cleaning duties and other duties as assigned.Polish metal work, and take care of equipment and materials.Assist other departments when needed to ensure optimum service to guests and clients.Must understand and follow the cleaning requirements and standards required by the U.S. Government, namely the FAA. Must understand and follow the proper use of equipment, storage of cleaning materials, and handling of cleaning compounds. Must adhere to cleaning schedules and timings.Attend safety meetings and other related meetings.Take training classes as required in cleaning methods, techniques, and products.Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Required Experience and SkillsMinimum 2 years of related experience in an office or similar environment.Have a good understanding of the cleaning requirements and standards required by the U.S. Government, preferably the FAA.Be aware of the proper use of equipment, storage of cleaning materials, and handling of cleaning compounds. Must be able to adhere to cleaning schedules and timings,Ability to communicate effectively and respond to questions and requests from customers and others.Ability to utilize a wide array of custodial chemicals, general cleaning chemicals.Ability to safely operate custodial equipment (vacuum, backpack vacuum, cardboard bailer).Effective written communication skills using appropriate business English.Human relations skills to build effective working relationships.Demonstrated organizational, problem solving and common-sense skills.Abide by the Federal Drug-Free workplace policy.Must be able to pass background check requirements as set by clients. Valid driver's license and clean driving record may be required.Have a clear background and ability to pass background checks/screening.Education and Training RequiredHigh School Diploma or GED equivalent.Ability to complete and pass the Cleaning Management Institute (CMI) Basic Custodial Technician certification within the first 30 days of employment.Ability to complete and obtain the CMI Advanced Custodial Technician Certification within the first 6 months of employment.Physical Requirements To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
