W.R. Grace Curtis Bay Works consists of 10 production plants that manufacture hundreds of products from four product lines: fluid cracking catalysts, hydroprocessing catalysts, polyolefin catalysts, and silicas. With approximately 500 employees, W.R. Grace is a significant employer in the Curtis Bay area. More than half of the products manufactured there are exported at a value of approximately $150 million annually.
We're hiring a Site Operations Director who will report to the Sr. Site Director and be accountable for effectiveness of site wide operations and financial performance and serve as back-up for the Sr. Site Director. Responsibilities include:
- Develops Operations Leadership team
- Provides Area Operations Managers first line of support for resolving resource and coordination issues within the site - on and off-shift
- Sets clear targets and Conducts Daily site-wide Performance Review
- Determines and leads capital and cost reduction priorities site wide
- Works with EHS&S, QA, Maintenance, Operations and Engineering Managers to drive continuous improvement and coordinate resources
- Interfaces with corporate functional teams (Global Operations, EHSSQ, HR) and aligns priorities across
- Ensures compliance with EHS&S standards
- Coordinates staffing and determines proper staffing balance across the site
- Accountable for the financial performance of each area. Involved in the monthly S&OP process
- Ensures inventory procedures are maintained and accuracy is consistent
- Communicates daily and weekly site performance. Coordinates lab priorities to meet operations needs
- Ability to follow safety protocols and standards working in a pilot plant facility with highly hazardous materials
- Must be willing to wear PPE (Personal Protective equipment) including but not limited to hard hat, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, Level A suit, full face respirator
- Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb stairs and ladders over 100 ft.
- Ability to work in a high hazard environment, including adverse weather conditions, elevated spaces, confined spaces, extreme temperatures, and noisy surroundings.
- Ability to follow safety protocols and standards working in a laboratory environment with highly hazardous materials
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical Engineering Preferred)
- 15+ years of operations experience in manufacturing plants including leadership/management experience
- Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization
- Effective time management with the ability to meet strict deadlines
- Experience developing employees, strong coaching
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering
- Union experience highly preferred
- Lean/Six Sigma Black Belt training
