HOW YOU WILL IMPACT OUR MISSION

The Food Service Maintenance Worker is responsible for the maintenance, repairs, and servicing a wide variety of machines and equipment utilized in the Food Service Department. They will also ensure that vending machines, commercial kitchen appliances, and related equipment are kept in safe and proper working condition.  This position reports to the Lead Food Service Maintenance Worker and the Director of Food Service.


WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Establishes and conducts a preventative maintenance program for assigned machines and equipment.
  • Trouble shoots, repairs, maintains and services a wide variety of commercial machines and equipment in the retail Food Service Department, such as vending machines, large commercial gas ovens, microwave ovens, deep fryers, refrigerators, freezers, hot and cold drink dispensers, ice machines, collapsible umbrellas, space heaters and other food service-related equipment.
  • Operates a wide variety of hand, electric and electronic tools, and testing equipment.
  • Orders and maintains stock of supplies and parts.
  • Works with tools, testing equipment and other appliances used in the testing and repairing of vending machines and commercial kitchen appliances.
  • Works with minimal supervision.
  • Communicates with management staff on a daily basis.
  • Assists guests in a courteous, friendly and professional manner.
  • Adheres to the Environmental Health Department standards.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The core responsibilities will focus on a wide variety of commercial machines and equipment in the retail Food Service Department.
 

  • JOB EXPERIENCE
    • Education, training and/or experience which would clearly demonstrate the essential functions, knowledge and skills listed; an example would be one or more years’ experience working in a high volume, fast paced environment repairing vending machines, commercial kitchen equipment including walk-in refrigerators and freezers.
  • EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS
    • Refrigerant Practices certification required (Type I and Type II)
    • Current valid California Driver’s License in good standing
  • SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
    • Refrigerant and applications and propane pour/fill procedures.
    • Simple plumbing, electrical work and painting.
    • Methods and practices for repairing vending machines and commercial kitchen equipment (i.e. Walk-in refrigerators and freezers).
    • Safety and sanitation methods used in the preparation and serving of food.
    • Basic inventory controls and best practices.
    • Basic usage and care of standard kitchen equipment and utensils.
    • Safety rules and regulations.
    • Guest service standards, policies and uniform standards.
    • Work effectively in a diverse team environment.
    • Work in a high volume, fast-paced environment.
    • Keep accurate records.
    • Multi-task and prioritize to meet the demands of business.
    • Communicate effectively (verbal and written).
    • Deal tactfully and courteously with guests and employees.
    • Understand and carry out both verbal and written instructions.
    • Perform required clean-up work.

IMPORTANT DETAILS

  • Position Type: Hourly Full-Time Non-Exempt Union Position - If selected there will be union fees and dues to be paid to the Union
  • Salary Range: $28.34
