We are currently seeking a Coordinator. Map of Play to work with community groups and municipalities on crowdsourcing campaigns that focus on adding data on publically accessible playgrounds, parks, fields, courts, trails, etc. to the Map of Play (
http://mapofplay.org ). This position supports the creation of a National Play Desert Map that highlights the absence of playspaces, which will ultimately help to eliminating Play Deserts through the creation and improvement of playspaces, and policy development. This position is located in our Washington, DC headquarters.
Program Management:

Develop and implement a strategy that utilizes social media and crowdsourcing to gather, enhance and organize data that supports the KaBOOM! Map of Play

Work directly with community leaders and groups on gathering local playspace data to be integrated into the Map of Play
-
Build, nurture, manage and ensure the success of an online community of users who are mapping playspaces using tools available at mapofplay.org, Tag!, Mobile Map of Play, and Playgrounds.

Develop, implement, and monitor the success of incentive programs designed to drive increases in mapping.

Participate as an active member of the product development team to support ongoing improvements of the mapofplay.org site

Build and maintain partnerships that enhance the organization’s ability to populate the Map of Play

Develop and implement a communication strategy for users of the Map of Play and mobile mapping applications

Distill & document best mapping practices, then work to spotlight them — both within the Map of Play and elsewhere, including outside kaboom.org.

Help to develop and lead Mapping-related webinars. Participating as an instructor in KaBOOM! raining events and conferences.

Work closely with the Philanthropy team on monetizing Map of Play products

Develop and manage a youth engagement strategy with partner groups around the country

Support the Playful City USA team in developing campaigns that city and municipal leaders can share with their citizens to support data acquisition.

Research and propose new opportunities for social media marketing and advertising campaigns that drive users to the KaBOOM! Map of Play

Participate in conversations with KaBOOM! network users that surround our content and brand, answer comments, and be a mediator for high-level issues

Identify, analyze, and escalate issues, patterns and trends
-
Define and deliver key performance metrics showing positive trends in community activities
General:
-
Provide clear, accurate data to the Director of Community Engagement demonstrating MASS ACTION performance against goals

Contribute to the overall goals of the department and KaBOOM! by helping in other departmental programs as needed

Participate in the development of inter-team communication and cohesiveness, and sustaining culture
-
Attends KaBOOM!, Build Days and other events as needed

Participates in internal KaBOOM! events and activities, including staff retreats and conferences
Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s degree required. Post-graduate degree in a relevant subject is highly preferred
-
At least 3-5 years of professional experience, with 2-3 years of specific experience in community outreach and/or online crowdsourcing

Proven experience developing and implementing an online crowdsourcing campaign
-
Proven experience developing new relationships with community groups and non-profit which lead to productive long-term relationships

Passion for and early adopter of new/emerging media technologies and ability to engage both strategically and tactically across complex platforms

Relationship-builder with the flexibility and finesse to “manage by influence” and to liaise with a wide range of internal and external constituents

This position requires exceptional verbal and written communication and editing skills, as well as excellent interpersonal skills, including the demonstrated ability to establish and maintain relationships with people. The ability to understand and organize information, and to write about or talk extemporaneously on that information, is essential.

An ability to plan and organize well, but also to be flexible in adapting plans and altering direction in response to new or changing circumstances

Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of computer programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.), social media (Facebook, Twitter, Pintrest, etc), and comfortable with the use of electronic mail and the Internet to meet daily responsibilities

Willingness to travel an estimated 5% to 10% of the time

Finally, a strong ethical character capable of handling confidential and financial information is critical.
Additional Qualifications (Not required, but beneficial)

Working in a non-profit organization focusing on civic engagement or community build project management and organization;

Working understanding of GIS and/or mapping technology
