Service to the Armed Forces (SAF) reservists are employed on short term assignments in a variety of locations around the world. Primary assignment is as a deployment team member in support of United States armed forces deployed in conflict areas. Occasionally assignments are available at domestic and overseas United States military installations. Reservists assist in the delivery of American Red Cross services to members of the United States military and their families assigned to military installations worldwide. They provide high quality service to customers and clients, consistent with Service to the Armed Forces and American Red Cross standards. Reservists provide supervision to volunteers and non-exempt employees when applicable. They represent the organization with the military command and adhere to military regulations and authority. Reservists must work effectively with chapters, service areas, blood regions and national headquarters.
Provide 24/7 emergency communications between military personnel and their families, information and referral, and other related services. Assist with human resources, financial and administrative functions consistent with American Red Cross policies and procedures. When applicable, administer or support the delivery of health and safety services training, disaster preparedness and response training, blood services and international services. Administer or assist in the management of American Red Cross volunteer programs. Assist in fundraising to support local American Red Cross programs and services.
Bachelor's degree in business or public administration, human resources management, community organization, social or health sciences, or related field; or relevant equivalent experience is required. A minimum of three years related experience is required. Strong computer skills are required. Self-presentation skills and the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing are required. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with multiple priorities are essential. The ability to obtain a secret security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required. Assignments with deployed U.S. military forces require meeting strict medical and physical requirements, including immunizations required by the U.S. military; wearing military uniforms; and living and working in harsh and stressful environment in conflict areas. Ability to obtain a no-fee passport is required for deployment and overseas assignments. Experience with American Red Cross programs and services are desired. Familiarity with military culture, regulations and protocol is desired.
