Company Overview
Scholar Academies seeks to close the achievement gap and contribute to the national efforts to eradicate inequity in urban education. The organization is one of the few charter management organizations developed as a hybrid able to capitalize on opportunities that arise within failing, traditional school systems from the inside out; and to act as an entrepreneur by exploring opportunities to create new schools from the bottom up. Mission
Scholar Academies is a non-profit, school management organization that exists to close the achievement gap and to contribute to national efforts to eradicate educational inequity. Scholar Academies manages a network of high-performing schools that provide traditionally underserved, urban students with a meaningful, high-quality education. Vision
Our vision is to drive systemic change within cities through a quality education. As one of the few charter management organizations developed as a hybrid, we will capitalize on opportunities that arise within failing, traditional school systems from the inside out; and to act as an entrepreneur by exploring opportunities to create new schools from the bottom up. Our goal is to operate 10 schools serving 5,000 students in three cities along the northeast corridor by 2015. Leadership A motivated Board of Trustees oversees the strategic development of Scholar Academies and provides leadership for key decisions that directly impact the organization’s ability to fulfill its mission. Scholar Academies’ home office staff, specifically the Chief Executive Officer and Deputy Director, are responsible for communicating to the Board academic progress toward achieving annual goals and working with key administrative leaders at School Districts, and state and federal Departments of Education. At the individual school level, School Directors oversee the daily operations and ensure that the Scholar Academies’ model is effectively implemented.
