Position Description Summary:

The George Washington University Medical Faculty Associates (MFA) is seeking a full-time faculty member with a focus on thoracic surgery, in the Division of Thoracic Surgery in the Department of Surgery. The MFA is an independent, non-profit clinical practice group affiliated with the George Washington University. This non-tenure track appointment will be made at a rank (Assistant/Associate Professor) commensurate with experience.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include performing thoracic procedures, teaching residents and medical students, and participating in research.

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must be board-eligible or board-certified in thoracic surgery and eligible for licensure in the District of Columbia and Maryland at the time of appointment. Applicants must have demonstrated excellence in teaching as evidenced by teaching evaluations. Demonstrated excellence in research is required, as evidenced by scholarly publications or works in progress. Applicants must have demonstrated skills in clinical care as evidenced by experience and fellowship training, with an ability to treat the entire spectrum of benign and malignant thoracic disorders (exclusive of transplantation) and have demonstrated minimally invasive skills as evidenced by training and experience. Applicant must have experience in teaching, and the willingness to work with surgical residents and medical students.
